(UPDATED ON 11-4-15): We are just a month away from one of our favorite events that we do, the Winter Retreat. The Winter Retreat is a special weekend where we take our student ministry out of Sheridan for a time of focused teaching, worship and a chance to just get away from all the distractions we face. This event is for every one involved in our student ministry. This year we will be lodging at Spring Lake Camp in Lonsdale, AR. This will be the first time we have stayed at this location in over 4 years; so we are excited to go back and make more memories there. Our speaker this year will be Joe Snyder from City Church in Conway and the focus of the weekend will be to encourage students to take the NEXT step in their faith. No matter where they are in their walk with Christ, there is always another step to make.

The dates of this year's Winter Retreat are December 4-6, 2015. This year we raised money and were given a special donation for our Winter Retreat to bring the cost down. The total cost of the Winter Retreat will now only be $20!! This will include their lodging and food while at the Winter Retreat. The $20 will be due on Sunday, November 22nd. After that date there will be a late fee and the cost will be $25.

We will be leaving FLBC @ 5pm on Friday, December 4th and returning at approx. 3pm on the December 6th. Students will need to bring money to eat at a fast food restaurant on the way down to the retreat. Each student will be required to fill out a DRIVE Medical Release Form. (You can download a DRIVE form below). Note: this form will only need to be filled out 1 time this school year for every event we do. If you have multiple students in our youth ministry, only 1 form is necessary for all of the students from your family.

We hope that you will go ahead and save the date for your student(s) to attend this very special weekend with us. We guarantee if you were to ask our students who have been a part of our group throughout the last 7 years, which event has had the biggest impact on their spiritual walk with Christ, you'll find that the overwhelming response would be our Winter Retreat. For those who have never attended, it's hard to put it in words; just something you have to experience yourself. We hope that this will be the year!

<![CDATA[WINTER RETREAT]]>Fri, 17 Oct 2014 22:08:33 GMThttp://www.flbcdrivestudents.com/news/winter-retreatPicture
***UPDATED on 12/5***

We are just a week away from one of our favorite events that we do, the Winter Retreat. The Winter Retreat is a special weekend where we take our student ministry out of Sheridan for a time of focused teaching, worship and a chance to just get away from all the distractions we face. This event is for every one involved in our student ministry. This year we will be lodging at Beech Springs Camp in Louann, AR. This will be the first time we have stayed at this location; it is a beautiful site and sure to be a place that will become near to our hearts after our weekend there.

The dates of this year's Winter Retreat are December 12-14, 2014. A $20 deposit was due on Sunday, November 23rd and this year we did a fundraiser to help us raise money to lower the overall cost of the trip (typically the WR costs $65). We were able to raise about $2000 and so there will just be a remaining balance of $25 that will be due when we leave for the retreat on December 12th. (Total cost of retreat - $45). We will be leaving FLBC @ 5pm on Friday, December 12th and returning at approx. 3pm on the December 14th. Students will need to bring money to eat at a fast food restaurant on the way down to the retreat. There will also be an option for students to participate in horse-back riding on the Saturday we are at Beech Springs at an additional charge (at this time we do not know the price). Each student will be required to fill out a DRIVE Medical Release Form as well as a release form from Beech Springs camp. (You can download a DRIVE form here). Note: this form will only need to be filled out 1 time this school year for every event we do. If you have multiple students in our youth ministry, only 1 form is necessary for all of the students from your family.

We hope that you will go ahead and save the date for your student(s) to attend this very special weekend with us. We guarantee if you were to ask our students who have been a part of our group throughout the last 6 years, which event has had the biggest impact on their spiritual walk with Christ, you'll find that the overwhelming response would be our Winter Retreat. For those who have never attended, it's hard to put it in words; just something you have to experience yourself. We hope that this will be the year!

<![CDATA[EU YOUTH REVIVAL]]>Mon, 13 Oct 2014 20:04:49 GMThttp://www.flbcdrivestudents.com/news/eu-youth-revivalPicture
This Wednesday night our student ministry will be attending the Youth Revival at East Union Baptist Church in East End. The theme this year is, "PURE" and we will hear teaching that night from Joey Cook and worship led by College City Church Band. Because we are going off campus for our Wednesday night there are a few changes to the schedule. We will have two groups leaving from FLBC. The 1st group will leave @ 5:30pm and will get there in time to eat before the revival (free pizza). The 2nd group will need to leave @ 6pm sharp! They will arrive just in time for the start of the worship service. We will all travel back together and be in Sheridan at FLBC at approximately 8:30pm. If you have any questions, please text Ryan (870) 883-1282 for any additional information.

Also, if you are interested in an update on the status of Ryan and the surgery he is having on his vocals, here is a short update video:

<![CDATA[NOT A FAN]]>Mon, 29 Sep 2014 20:06:19 GMThttp://www.flbcdrivestudents.com/news/not-a-fanPicture
Last Wednesday we launched a challenging new series called, "NOT A FAN." Here is a little synopsis of the series and a look at what we hope to see our students embrace.

"Are you a follower of Jesus? Don’t answer too quickly. Consider it a “Define the Relationship” conversation to determine exactly where you stand. You may indeed be a passionate, fully devoted follower of Jesus. Or, you may be just a fan who admires Jesus but isn’t ready to let him cramp your style. Then again, maybe you’re not into Jesus, period. In any case, don’t take the question—Are you a follower of Jesus?—lightly. Some people don’t know what they’ve said yes to and other people don’t realize what they’ve said no to.. But Jesus is ready to clearly define the relationship he wants with his followers. Not a Fan calls you to consider the demands and rewards of being a true disciple. We are invited to live the way Jesus lived, love the way he loved, pray the way he prayed, and never give up living for the One who gave his all for you."

This week we will jump into Session #2 and will look at the difference between just knowing about God and knowing Him intimately. We are excited about what God will do in our hearts. Please pray that we will see more and more students respond to the call to follow Christ with their lives!

<![CDATA[NC2 SUMMER CAMP]]>Wed, 16 Jul 2014 21:54:06 GMThttp://www.flbcdrivestudents.com/news/nc2-summer-camp
On Monday we set off for another exciting week of summer camp at Bogg Springs in Wickes, AR. Wanted to take a moment to fill you in on all of those little details that you need to know going into next week.

 • We will be leaving First Landmark church at 10am on Monday.
 • Arrive early enough to pay your remaining balance (Total cost is $120 - $20 deposit = $100), turn in your camp medical form and load luggage on to the trailer. We will have leaders here as early as 9:30am.
 • Pack efficiently and as light as you can. This camp is at max capacity (Over 900 people) so it will be crowded. Space is going to be limited and so please don't bring a lot of luggage.
 • The group will be stopping at a fast food restaurant on the way. Students will need to bring extra money for this meal (Approx $5-$8)
 • The hope is that we will arrive at the camp at around 2pm or earlier on Monday.
 • While at camp we encourage students to stay off of cell phones unless needing to call home. Phone service is limited at the camp but not impossible.
 • We will be returning to First Landmark at approx. NOON on Friday.

<![CDATA[ONE MEAL - ONE DAY]]>Mon, 04 Nov 2013 15:05:55 GMThttp://www.flbcdrivestudents.com/news/one-meal-one-day
This Wednesday night we are participating in an event called One Meal - One Day; an event put on by Compassion International. We are asking DRIVE Students to skip one meal between now & Wednesday and donate the money that we would have spent on that meal to help feed children in need all over the world. Some might choose to skip their favorite meal from El Parian or maybe Sonic. It doesn't matter what meal is skipped, what matters is that we give out of our abundance to those who probably don't get to choose what meals they eat, they simply eat what is given to them. We just want to do our part, even if it's a small one, to serve those who are in need.

<![CDATA[BIG NIGHT @ FUEL]]>Tue, 01 Oct 2013 21:31:57 GMThttp://www.flbcdrivestudents.com/news/big-nightPicture
It's the first Wednesday night of the month, which means we've got a BIG NIGHT of FUEL coming your way tomorrow night! For starters, we are contiuning our "C4" series. Last week we discovered that God does not offer us CLARITY for every situation in our lives, but He always offers us a COMPASS (His Spirit) to guide us along the way. We'll continue this week by blowing up another misconception about the "promises" of God.
P.S. we will be blowing something up this week! (and we're not talking figuratively....we will literally be blowing something up!)

Something we have begun doing on the first Wednesday of every month is break up in to our new POWER TEAMS! You will get the opportunity to pick 2 people that you want to be in a Power Team with (they can be the same 2 people you picked last month if you want) and then we will put you with 3 other students to form a Power Team for the month of October! These groups are designed to encourage each other, pray for each other and get to know more students from our youth group.

Picture
Another very important thing that we do on the first Wednesday of every month we take up our Compassion Offering for Maria, our sponsored little girl from the Philippines. We simply ask everyone to bring $1 (or more) with you so that we can continue to support Maria and give her the resources to meet her monthly needs.

Hope you'll join us for this BIG NIGHT of FUEL
tomorrow night!

<![CDATA[SEE YOU AT THE POLE]]>Tue, 24 Sep 2013 15:27:53 GMThttp://www.flbcdrivestudents.com/news/see-you-at-the-pole
See You at the Pole™, the global day of student prayer, began in 1990 as a grass roots movement with ten students praying at their school. Twenty years later, millions pray on their campuses on the fourth Wednesday in September.

See You at the Pole™ is simply a prayer rally where students meet at the school flagpole before school to lift up their friends, families, teachers, school, and nation to God. See You at the Pole™ is a student-initiated, student-organized, and student-led event.
